People come to the Coalition from different
occupations and places. Most of us are laity – teachers, sales reps, business
managers, parish workers, retirees, and so on.
 The clergy among us are similarly diverse – we include pastors, church and
“parachurch” agency executives, seminary professors, etc.
We live in different places – most of us across
the United States, but some also from Canada and from across the Pacific and
Atlantic Oceans.
We also come from different Christian traditions.
Some of us are Evangelicals, some are Catholics, some are part of “mainline”
Protestant denominations, and some call other places our religious home.
 We also differ in the language we use to speak
about our shared passion. Some of us call it “ministry in daily life,” some
call it “faith in the workplace,” some call it “marketplace ministry,” some
call it “lay apostolate,’ some call it “faith and life,” some call it
“spirituality of work,” and some call it “witness in the world.”
But whatever we do, wherever we are, however we
name it, we know that serving God in everyday life is a central part of the
Christian’s identity.
